Our standard A-level offer is A*A*A to A*AA, to include grades A* in maths and A in physics. For IB students, we require 39-42 points with 7,6,6 at higher level.
Most universities require maths and physics at A-level, with some also requiring further maths. Typical offers range from AAB to A*A*A.
The Institute of Physics recommends that students take both maths and physics at A-level to prepare for an engineering degree. Many universities require or prefer these subjects.
Applicants should have a strong foundation in maths and physics, with many of our students having taken advanced courses such as AP or IB higher level.
The entry requirements for mechanical engineering vary by university, but A-level grades of AAB to A*A*A with maths and physics are common.
We require A-level grades of AAB to A*A*A, including maths and physics. For BTEC students, we require DDD to D*DD in a relevant subject.
This resource provides guidance for students taking A-level maths and physics, including tips for applying to mechanical engineering courses at university.
