Canada is conscious of this and has set up several grant programs to help organizations find workers and connect young people to the right organizations so they can gain experience in their field of study. One of the grant programs developed by the Canadian government is the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). This program honors the Government of Canada’s commitment to helping young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the competencies (both hard and soft skills) and work experience that they need to make a successful transition into the labor market. The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program provides funding to organizations to produce a range of activities that help youth overcome barriers to employment and develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in order to participate in the current and future labor market. One of the most known programs linked to the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy is the Canada Summer Jobs program. Another program linked to the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy is the Science Horizons Youth Internship Program.
