The Canadian Sport Institute of Calgary, in partnership with the University of Calgary, offers multi-sport coach training classes for every coaching context. As of May 1st, 2011, CKC’s Code of Safety requires all persons working with on-water participants in the Canoe Kayak Canada environment to have, at a minimum, completed **Community Coach (CanoeKids)** training as part of the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP). The NCCP is a world-renowned coach education program governed by the **Coaching Association of Canada (CAC)**. ### Community Coach (CanoeKids). Completion of the workshop, NCCP Making Ethical Decisions module, and NCCP Safe Sport Training module. This course is offered in a blended learning format, combining live online sessions with practical tasks completed in the coach’s own club environment. Coaches will work collaboratively and are trained to support athletes within the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) stages: Fundamentals, Foundations, Training to Train, Learning to Compete, and Active for Life. The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) provides standardized, inclusive coach education across Canada. Launched in 1974, the NCCP is developed by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) in partnership with the Government of Canada, provincial/territorial governments, and national/provincial/territorial sport organizations. For more information on the coaching streams/contexts, please go to https://coach.ca/nccp-streams-and-contexts. NCCP modules are categorized as Multi-Sport Modules and Sport Specific Modules. A coach’s NCCP training usually combines both Multi-Sport and Sport Specific modules, based upon the pathway set by the national sport organization. For more information on the Multi-Sport modules delivered in Alberta and to register for a specific course, check out the NCCP Multi-Sport Module Calendar. Coaches can use their NCCP# and password to log into the CAC Locker to check their status on their coaching transcript.
