These combined actions are having long-term impacts, giving young people in Canada the skills, competencies, and connections needed to secure and maintain good jobs, strengthening the Canadian workforce with their energy and innovation, and contributing to the growth of the economy, says the government. Empowering youth across the country to gain the experience they need to launch long-term, high-paying careers is an investment in young people and in building the economy of the future,” said Anna Gainey, Secretary of State (Children and Youth).
2. Canada: Youth Employment Strategy. Skills development is a primary means of enabling young people to make a smooth transition to work. Improved basic education and core work skills are particularly important to enable youth to engage in lifelong learning as well as transition to the labour market. National legislation, policies and initiatives on the issue of training and skills development and the world of work. The Youth Employment Strategy is the Government of Canada's commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the labour market. Skills Link helps youth facing barriers to employment, including youth who are single parents, youth with disabilities, young newcomers and youth in rural and remote areas, to develop the skills and gain the experience needed to find a job or the confidence to return to school.

This program helps all youth aged (15-30) to navigate through the labour market and to successfully transition into sustained employment. Participants will be paid an allowance equivalent to the provincial minimum wage rate, during Employment Skills Training and Employment Services. **Please note this is a 14-week program in which participants must attend all sessions!!!**. **Employment Skills Training (held virtually)** – Essential and Employment skills including career exploration, and other activities aimed at improving employment readiness and job maintenance. **Employment Services (held virtually)** – Short-term training activities designed to assist in job searching and how to obtain employment. **Quality Employment Opportunity (on site)** – Develop and enhance employability and occupational skills through practical on-the-job experience. The Canada Student Financial Assistance Program (CSFA Program) provides Canada Student Grants and Loans to help students pay for their post-secondary education. The Canada Student Financial Assistance Program. Through the CSFA Program, the Government of Canada funds about 60% of a full-time student's financial need. The Canada Summer Jobs program (CSJ) provides youth (aged 15 to 30) with opportunities to develop and improve their skills through quality jobs over the summer with employers from not-for-profit organizations and the public sector, as well as private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees. ESDC's YESS Program, which is part of the overarching YESS provides funding to organizations to deliver a range of activities that help youth overcome barriers to employment. The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP), provides financial incentives to agricultural employers to create jobs for youth that provide an opportunity for these youth to gain valuable work experience and skill development opportunities, while also raising awareness of opportunities in the agriculture sector.
