Two innovative geotextile-based slope stabilization and erosion control approaches were developed in this study, including vegetation-geotextile composites and geotextiles treated with alkali-activated binder (AAB). Experimental investigations were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of different slope protection measures in delaying runoff onset, lowering erosion rates, and improving slope stability under varied rainfall intensities and slope gradients. It was found that bare slopes [...] slope. Furthermore, AAB-treated geotextiles delivered the highest erosion resistance, while vegetation-geotextile composites provided significant ecological benefits in terms of soil temperature regulation and organic matter release. As a result, integration of AAB treatment with vegetation-geotextile systems can serve as a long-term slope stabilization solution that simultaneously addresses engineering requirements and environmental objectives under climate change scenarios. [...] To address these challenges, this study conducted indoor model experiments to investigate the slope erosion control performance of two treatment methods, such as vegetation-geotextile composites for ecological benefits and alkali-activated binder (AAB)-treated geotextiles for mechanical enhancement. Comparative analysis under various rainfall intensities (90 and 120 mm/h) and slope gradients (30° and 45°) was carried out to evaluate the effects of different slope protection measures in runoff

Main options include geotextiles, erosion control blankets, geogrids, vegetation and hydroseeding, retaining walls, soil nailing, riprap, and geocells. Geotextiles are often combined with these methods — as a filter layer beneath riprap, for example, or as reinforcement within a vegetated embankment.
### What type of geotextile fabric is best for slope stabilization and drainage? [...] When a slope needs to resist significant tensile forces — where the soil mass itself cannot hold without additional support — woven geotextiles are the right tool. They distribute applied loads laterally and improve shear resistance across the slope profile.
One limitation: wovens have lower permeability than nonwovens. They're not used as standalone drainage or filtration layers. Complex slope systems often pair them with nonwoven drainage composites. [...] When installed on the slope face, geotextiles absorb the kinetic energy of raindrop impact and slow surface runoff velocity. This gives water time to infiltrate rather than carry particles downslope. It's the primary mechanism behind erosion control blankets and biodegradable mats used on graded slopes and disturbed embankments.

High strength woven geotextiles offer a range of benefits that make them an essential component in civil engineering and soil stabilization projects.
Whether for embankment reinforcement, slope stabilization, or foundation support, these geotextiles improve soil performance, extend the lifespan of infrastructure, and provide cost-effective solutions for construction challenges.
Below are the key advantages of using high strength woven geotextiles: [...] High strength woven geotextiles are widely used in soil stabilization, embankment construction, and slope reinforcement. Their role in modern engineering ensures safety, durability, and cost efficiency across multiple applications.
Below are key applications where these geotextiles prove essential:
### 1. Soil Reinforcement [...] Unlike traditional soil stabilization methods, these geotextiles provide a more economical solution. Supplied in roll form, they are lightweight, easy to transport, and simple to install.
Overlapping, stitching, or anchoring techniques accelerate construction, reducing labor and equipment costs. Additionally, they minimize the need for extra fill materials, further lowering project expenses.
### 5. Enhanced Drainage and Filtration Properties

Geotextiles perform several essential functions that work together to control erosion and enhance slope stability. A single geotextile layer can often fulfill multiple roles, making it an efficient engineering solution.
### Soil Stabilization and Reinforcement
Geotextiles reinforce weak soils by distributing loads and limiting soil movement. This reinforcement improves slope strength and reduces deformation under traffic loads, rainfall, and gravitational forces. [...] The use of geotextiles offers multiple technical, economic, and environmental benefits, making them a preferred solution for slope protection projects.
### Improved Slope Stability
By reinforcing soil and controlling water movement, geotextiles significantly reduce the risk of slope failure and erosion.
### Cost-Effective Erosion Control Solution
Geotextiles reduce the need for heavy structural solutions and extensive earthworks, lowering construction and maintenance costs. [...] Geotextiles play a critical role in protecting slopes from erosion and structural failure in both natural and engineered environments. As construction expands into more challenging terrains, controlling soil movement and maintaining slope stability have become essential for long-term safety and sustainability. Geotextiles provide an effective, adaptable, and proven solution for reinforcing slopes, managing water flow, and preventing surface and subsurface erosion across a wide range of

ponds. 1 Erosion of soil has been a problem for a long time, however it has been only the last eight to ten years that geosynthetics and other man-made materials have been used to control erosion. Advantages of using geotextiles are greater predicted performance over conventional methods, applications that are more easily regulated, and better continuity of protection. Most of the technology for this application has come from Europe. The concept behind using geotextiles in erosion control is to [...] can be combined of various materials to provide specific functions. Geonets for example, combined with nonwovens, are used in drainage systems. Introduction Erosion control encompasses a large area that includes permanent and temporary systems. Permanent systems can include soil stabilization, riprap and hard armor systems, and scour protection. Temporary systems include soil stabilization with geotextiles, chemical treatment, hay bales, and silt fences. This paper will deal with both permanent [...] systems such as concrete block, concrete-filled mattresses and gabions. Geotextiles can provide a function here by providing a separation function under the concrete or rip-rap over smaller grained soil. (Figure 2.) Geotextiles also are manufactured as mattresses that are quilted with cable or other materials. (Figure 3.) These mattresses become the forms for poured concrete providing a continuous surface as an erosion barrier. In laboratory tests of various erosion control products, all the
