## Progress for each of the goals is mixed:
35% show adequate progress (with 18% on track to meet the target and 17% with moderate progress)
48% show insufficient progress (with 31% with marginal gains and 17% with no progress at all)
18% of goals have regressed below 2015 baseline levels.

## The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 – A Summary:
The UN recently published a report summarising the ten-year progress of the SDGs since 2015, coming five years before the goals’ deadline in 2030. [...] Our partner Los Sauces in Honduras has a mission to turn women into agents of change and leadership in their communities. The women who partake in their programme gain an education which is not ordinarily available to them, pursue sustainable careers and return to their communities to empower the next generation of women.
## Whilst progress to the SDG targets still has a way to go, we are comforted by the powerful work WONDER’s partners are doing towards these goals.

– Eleanor Horne, final-year English Literature and Language BA student, Permafrost; and Marianne McBrearty, final-year Creative Writing and English Literature BA student, AI Spring Westminster’s pathway to net zero Westminster is making steady progress towards its target of net zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions and a 50% cut in Scope 3 emissions by 2035. The University has rolled out several energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives to support this, including upgrading to [...] at campus cafés in 2024-25 to reduce the volume of waste going to incineration. Food waste is segregated from general waste and sent for anaerobic digestion, where organic matter is broken down and recycled. This reduces the total carbon emissions released as a result of the University’s activities and will help reach Westminster’s net-zero target for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2050. [...] PROGRESS AND NEXT STEPS Thanks to the formation of the SDG Coordinating Group with its wide representation, colleagues from across the University can offer a broader perspective to the organisation of strategic activities which further embed the SDGs into all Westminster does. In addition to this and overseeing the SDGs in University governance, the Group is committed to supporting the Sustainability Team in the annual THE Impact Rankings submission and results review, including coordinating

The Sustainable Development Goals are underpinned by 169 targets which address a wide range of issues facing both developed and developing countries. These interconnected issues include poverty, inequality, climate change, inclusive societies and access to health and education. A central commitment of the Goals is to Leave No One Behind, ensuring that development progress reaches the most vulnerable and marginalised populations. [...] As part of Agenda 2030, all 193 UN member states are required to produce at least one Voluntary National Review, a report in which they assess and present progress they have made towards achieving the SDGs. In 2019, the UK produced its first Voluntary National Review and presented it on 16 July to the UN High Level Political Forum. [...] The SDGs apply to all countries, with all sectors playing a role in supporting their delivery. The UK is responsible for achieving the Goals domestically and for supporting their attainment internationally.

The UN’s latest report finds that a wide funding gap remains to reach the SDGs by the 2030 target.
Developing countries must close a $4 trillion annual SDG financing chasm, while also facing a debt servicing burden of $1.4 trillion. Moreover, development aid declined by 7.1% last year, with further cuts expected in 2025. [...] Driving progress on the SDGs is central to the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Meetings. Taking place in New York between 22–26 September 2025, the meetings will bring together business leaders, policymakers, social entrepreneurs and international civil society organizations to share insights and examples of effective action to accelerate our journey towards 2030.
